Down the Quantum Physics Rabbit Hole
About this lesson

Don’t Be Afraid of “Quantum”
First things first.
Don’t fear the phrase quantum physics.
It’s not a secret code.
It’s not a mystical incantation.
It’s not reserved for people with wild hair and chalk dust on their jackets.
The word quantum comes from Latin.
It simply means:
“How much?”
That’s it.
How much.
Physics, at its core, is the study of how energy and matter relate.
How they interact.
How they transform.
How they influence one another.
Which, if you think about it, is exactly what we’re doing here in the Transformation Experience.
We are studying the relationship between energy (thoughts, attention, emotion, intention) and matter (your body, your behavior, your environment, your outcomes).
Quantum physics asks:
How much energy?
In what form?
Interacting in what way?
That’s not mystical.
That’s practical.
Why It Matters to You
Understanding the relationship between energy and matter is not about impressing anyone at dinner.
It’s about agency.
When you understand that thoughts carry energetic consequence…
When you understand that attention reorganizes neural pathways…
When you understand that emotion amplifies signal…
You stop living randomly.
You start experimenting deliberately.
Balanced living isn’t achieved by suppressing energy.
It’s achieved by directing it.
And once you see that energy and matter are inseparable dance partners — not opposing forces — life becomes more playful.
You stop fighting reality.
You start working with it.
That is the key.
Not belief.
Not wishful thinking.
Understanding.
And from understanding comes something far more powerful than hope:
Choice.
And choice, applied consistently, creates the life you say you want.

From What Things Are… to How They Run
Up to now, we’ve been exploring what things are made of.
Fields.
Particles.
Energy.
Suchness.
Now we shift.
Quantum physics is not just about ingredients.
It’s about operation.
How things run.
Think of it like a mechanics class.
First, you learn how the car is assembled.
Engine. Transmission. Wiring. Fuel system.
Then you learn how it functions.
What happens when you press the accelerator.
How torque is generated.
Why braking works.
And then — the fun part.
You drive.
That’s where we’re heading.
A Necessary Clarification
Quantum physics investigates reality at the microscopic level.
Subatomic particles.
Fields.
Probabilities.
Now, here’s where we need to be disciplined.
Many self-help teachers wave around the word “quantum” without understanding what they’re talking about.
They assume that because particles behave in strange ways at the micro level, those behaviors can be directly mapped onto human life at the macro level.
That is rarely accurate.
Electrons interfering in a double-slit experiment are not secretly teaching you how to manifest a parking space.
Physics deserves respect.
However…
There are certain principles discovered at the microscopic level that do have verifiable implications for human behavior.
Not because electrons have feelings.
But because humans are physical systems embedded in the same fundamental reality.
We will focus on three such principles.
Yes, they have intimidating names.
No, you do not need a lab coat.
But you do need curiosity.
Between the Lines (and the Orange Face)
This next clip is from a television show I did with Barry Kibrick called Between the Lines.
You can find the full thirty-minute interview on YouTube.
It was my first proper studio interview.
Lights. Cameras. Makeup.
I was more nervous than I let on.
Before the show, I was taken into makeup and my face was generously coated in bright orange foundation.
After the interview, I was so eager to leave that I forgot to have it removed.
I flew from Los Angeles back to Seattle with a glowing orange face.
For a brief moment, I assumed people were staring because I was now a recognizable television personality.
In reality, they were likely wondering what infectious condition I was carrying.
Humility arrives quickly.
Why This Clip Matters
I include this clip for two reasons.
First, it reminds me of what I looked like before my hair turned grey.
Second — and more importantly — Barry is a master interviewer.
He immediately understood that Three Simple Steps is not a fluffy motivational book.
It is a physics book.
It is about energy.
It is about how reality operates.
That conversation marked the beginning of a deeper dive into quantum principles applied responsibly — not mystically, not theatrically — but practically.
It was the kick-off point for our descent down the quantum rabbit hole.
And unlike some rabbit holes…
This one leads somewhere useful.
Watch the clip.
Notice what resonates.
And prepare.
Because next…
We stop studying the car.
And start driving it.

As We Go Down the Rabbit Hole…
Keep this in mind as we descend into the quantum physics rabbit hole:
No one needs to become a physicist to understand this.
And no one needs to behave like a saint to create a better life.
This isn’t about perfection.
It’s about calibration.
Very small changes in how we play with energy create very large differences in outcomes.
Just like driving.
A slight adjustment of the steering wheel.
A subtle pressure on the accelerator.
Those tiny inputs determine whether the ride feels smooth… or chaotic.
Life works the same way.
Micro-adjustments.
Macro-results.
The Three Principles
The next three principles do, of course, come with intimidating scientific labels:
- String Theory – how we jiggle determines what we get.
- Observer Effect – what we pay attention to grows in our lives.
- Quantum Entanglement – once connected, always connected.
Respectable names.
Academic.
Precise.
Memorable?
Not exactly.
So I prefer my own emotional translations:
- You’ve got to be kidding me.
- Oh. My. Goodness.
- Are you serious right now?
If teachers labeled things by emotional impact instead of Latin roots, we’d all remember physics more easily.
Because when you truly understand these principles — not intellectually, but viscerally — that’s the reaction they provoke.
From Micro to Macro (Carefully)
Now let’s be disciplined.
These principles originate in microscopic physics.
They describe how particles and fields behave under specific experimental conditions.
We are not going to pretend that electrons are managing your career.
But…
There are micro-level behaviors revealed by physics that reflect patterns we also see in human systems.
And when understood carefully, those patterns can be applied meaningfully to life.
Not metaphorically.
Practically.
Each of these principles reveals something about:
- How energy stabilizes.
- How attention shapes outcomes.
- How connection persists beyond obvious boundaries.
When we understand them at the structural level, we gain tools.
And tools, applied consistently, change trajectories.
We’re not here to admire the equations.
We’re here to use the steering wheel.
Now…
Let’s take the first principle.
And yes — it’s one of those “Oh. My. Goodness.” moments.
