  • Hi Trevor,

I have read the course The Practical Magic of the 5-Hour Workday. While I also read some of the comments, I plan to revisit the course to read more of them. I can see the beauty of the concept with the day being very less rushed and balanced with having a life within your day. I have been an elementary physical education teacher, now retired, and worked within the school system guidelines. I LOVED my job working with students ages of 5 to 12 as well as coaching high school aged student/athletes. Much of what you shared was also at my job as a teacher – too many meetings. An established approach to work on my teaching skills and content areas with other physical education teachers would have been more rewarding and beneficial professionally. The end result of this being more rewarding for our students would be self-evident. I am now retired and have missed the positive contact with teaching “my kids”. I believe I have considerable more left inside me and believe my teaching for perhaps an adult version would be an avenue for continued growth in an area related to physical education. Also, I have a very strong feeling that our young people (our children in kindergarten – 12th grade) need follow up for their own fitness and wellness. The obesity rate in the United States is the cause of so many health concerns. I do not know at this time how to develop a business in this area of need but I will take some walks (and yes my dogs can be included too every once in a while) and some insights in this area may present itself. I appreciate everything you offer and continued learning on my part will bring me to my next challenge to undertake. Thank you!!!

    Best to You!!!

    • They are the bane of both business and modern life! They need to happen (at some level, for some companies), but too many people get dragged into it and then punished for not also doing their other stuff they should have been doing outside the meeting! Catch-22. Traction by Gino Wickman and Elon Musk playbook give nice outlines for how to do meetings powerfully, minimally, effectively when you absolutely must! And no more.

  • Thank you so very much for this most helpful and eye-opening advice about business and human energy and focus, as well as the amazing history behind the work week hours! Wow!

I just went through the 5 hr ebook /course and am looking forward to more. I’m hoping to clear debt and have my business become one that makes a positive impact while also providing me with a great, steady income.

Thank you for sharing your amazing experience and knowledge with us, and donating the money to an important cause, as well.

    • Hoping will unfortunately not change anything. We need to use thoughts and words more effectively eliminating words in our volcabulary (like how, wish etc). See Three Simple Steps.

  • Perfect Trevor, easy to understand and with good humor. Great guidelines for anyone with free days. Applicable to retired people or anyone who has financial independence, who may not need to start a business, but have other interests or new life goals. Keep talking – you’re the best!

      • Love the course. Here’s my conundrum: I’m starting a new business and working to get it going to transition out of my “day job.” Am I only counting the five hours on the new business while I’m getting things going? Should I make an adjustment considering that I still work outside the home?

        • Sorry, but I don’t see your name so I’ll just say hello yourrealvoice. At one time I ran three businesses at the same time. I still never worked more than 5 hours a day. No, the 5 hours is not additional but combined. There is a lot more information and evidence at the private facebook group the 5-hour workday. There are almost 400 members signed up since January. Why don’t you join and then we can discuss this topic for the benefit of a lot more folks who probably have the same question.
